FEATURE FRONT DOOR ASSEMBLIES
Devon Custom Joinery provides a specialist service for the construction, and if required the installation, of bespoke door assemblies. By this we mean the manufacture of the more complex type of entrance way such as may include side panels or over panels, and we cover the whole of the West Country and as far as London and the South East.
The image below shows a typical example, consisting of the main door flanked on both sides by matching half glazed side panels. The lower portions of both door and side panels consist of simple panelling to suit customer request, and the whole has been treated with two coats of Rosewood stain and completed with brass handle and letter plate.
All of these elements can be varied to suit your individual requirements- for example the finish could be paint, the handle and letter plate black antique, the glazed portions could be varied in size or design and the panelling could be more ornate. We can manufacture from a range of hardwoods such as Oak and Iroko, but please let us know if you would like to use a particular timber.

Some of our customers require only one side screen, for reasons of economy, available space or simply design preference, and this is no problem at all - if you are not sure what kind of door you can fit in the space you have, just ask and we will let you know your options. An average external door is about 2'9" wide (840mm) and the side panels we construct are usually in the range of a further 9-16" (230-410mm), but nothing is set in stone- just ask! Over door panels, as mentioned in the introduction, are commonly found in Victorian or Georgian homes, but can be created or replicated for any sort of higher than average doorway

These particular double doors shown above were commissioned by a customer who favoured a more complicated panel design (moulding) for the lower part of the door, and it is this sort of work that creates a truly "one-off" feel for our customers. If there is a design you have always wanted, just let us know!
Tongue and groove panelling, whether horizontal or vertical, is a very popular feature in our doorways and can be used to give an individual stamp to your property:
Glazing options
The glazed portions of your doorway can be double or single glazed and are normally toughened to comply with safety regulations. The glass can be frosted, clear, patterned or leaded as shown below:

We usually send out our quotations (which are free and no obligation) with a separate costing for manufacture and fitting, so that you can decide which option you prefer. You will see from our testimonials page that our joiner/fitters maintain very high standards of cleanliness, tidiness and punctuality, and we are very proud to have them on our team.
